Olympic Personalities - Round 1B

Olympic Personalities

The 2024 Summer Olympics are in full swing, and they've been a blast. But some personalities--athletes, commentators, comedians, rappers, weird dudes who pick up swim caps--have stolen the spotlight. Who are your favorites?? Vote!

6 Pommel Horse Guy v 11 Noah Lyles

Yes, he has a real name. It's Stephen Nedoroscik. But do we really care? No. No we don't. We care that he rocks the Rubik's Cube. We care that he takes his Clark Kent glasses off before turning into the gymnastics Superman. And we care that he won two bronzes in this year's games.

The man who didn't let a little thing like COVID stand in the way of competing in the Olympics, Noah Lyles is a standout personality this year. He won an incredibly memorable gold in the 100m and a bronze in the 200m (while having a 102 degree fever... no big deal).

3 Katie Ledecky v 14 Flavor Flav

Katie Ledecky is carrying the US flag in the closing ceremonies of the Olympics, and it's with good reason. This year, she won two golds, a silver, and a bronze. But over her career, it's nine golds, 4 silvers, and a bronze. She's simply dominant.

Flavor Flav is another unlikely personality in this year's Olympics, but he's become an indelible fixture. The newest hype man for the US Olympic teams, Flavor Flav heard the call from the men's and women's water polo team and answered with a five year sponsorship deal.

7 Turkish Pistol Guy v 10 Ilona Maher

Yusuf Dikec became famous, not for winning an Olympic silver medal (although that's nice too), but for the way he did it. His style - hand in pocket, no fancy gizmos on his face, that look of utter calm and arrogance - has taken the internet by storm. Is he a hitman in his normal life? It's entirely possible. This picture is so iconic that other Olympians have taken to imitating it in their social media posts.

Let's be honest... the USA isn't generally known for its rugby prowess. But Ilona Maher has captured the hearts of America with a message of positivity and inclusion. And the fact that she led the US to a bronze in rugby sevens didn't hurt.

2 Simone Biles v 15 Tom Daley

What is there to say about Simone Biles? She's probably the gymnastics GOAT. Her 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals (including three golds this year) are simply dominant. She's the best of the best.

Tom Daley captured our hearts with knitting needles. His silver in synchronized diving is great, sure, but it was that shot of the English diver knitting on the sidelines that really won the world over.
